Shiloh is a lovely Australian Shepherd, who sadly lost his owner. He was well cared for and loved, but he's understandably confused by all the changes. This means he takes a while to warm up, but once he does, he seeks affection and loves his walks, so he's looking for a moderately active family to adventure with! Initially, he is social and sweet with other dogs, but may become possessive of his people. This happens particularly in the home, so we think he'd do best as the only dog in the home, unless adopters have experience managing this behavior with another dog in the house. He can be a little stubborn but with ongoing training and socialization, he will grow in confidence and become the happy and balanced dog we know he can be! Shiloh can live with dog-savvy cats - he's been successfully fostered with a calm cat who doesn't run. He's also very well housetrained and sleeps on a dog bed. Read what Shiloh's foster family has to say about him: "Shiloh is the perfect companion dog! He's very low-maintenance and as long as he gets his daily walk or car ride, he's very content. He loves sitting out on our deck or in the yard, just being one with nature. Things to be mindful of are that he can be dog-reactive so it is best to cross the street or keep him on a short leash when passing other dogs on a walk. He can also be warry of strangers in the house but with the correct introduction and treats, he can warm up to the guests. Shiloh would thrive in a household with adults who have a yard for him to roam. Shiloh is treat motivated and so smart! With consistent correction and small treats for rewards, Shiloh can adjust positively to almost everything!" If you're able to offer structure, patience and an open heart, Shiloh will be sure to reward you with a deep bond that'll last a lifetime. Come by the adoption center to meet him!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt SHILOH, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
