My story

863-226-9036 ADOPT PUMPKIN - a friendly Ginger GIRL who needs a great home. This adoption is NOT through Furry Nation Salvation and is a Courtesy Post. Please call the individual listed below with any further questions or to set up a time to meet the pet. Thank you. Please call/text this number if interested: 863-226-9036 Cat located in this city: Lakeland, FL Cat’s Name: Pumpkin Cat’s Age & Sex: Female, Approx 5yrs Cat’s vetting history (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped): spayed Animals story: (where found and reason for wanting to rehome): Pumpkin was rescued from an underfed colony of kitties in a trailer park. The cats in the area were forced to forage and were eating trash to survive. There were no resources available to have her spayed, so when she came to us she had just given birth to her FOURTH litter. She was so hungry, scared, and exhausted and someone had burned her with a cigarette behind her ear. The kittens had taken all the nutrients from her little body and she was dehydrated and in desperate need of help. She was being fed to the best of a generous resident’s ability when there was extra food available, but with financial pressures there was just not enough resources to keep her fed. Since giving birth she has actually GAINED almost a pound and is slowly but surely gaining back her strength and her ribs almost no longer show. She needs a good home where she can live the life she deserves, indoors and safe, and where she will never again have to worry when her next meal will come. All of her babies are on their way to their forever after, but no one has picked her yet :( Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes): Pumpkin is still a little shy, she is emotionally recovering from the damage whatever monster did to her when they burned her, the starvation, and the trauma of never having a home to call her own, but her body is healing well, the vet believes no scar will show, and all fur behind her ear will return. She is learning to trust and has been very sweet with me since I learned she enjoys shoulder, head and chin rubs as well as gentle lower back massages to help her with the post-pregnancy back pain. She sits straight up for back rubs (like in one photo) , stares at you with nothing but love and longing, and makes lots of little air biscuits with her front paws. I can tell she will be a great cat to lay with you on the couch and will be a good calm quiet companion for your home. Though… she is orange… so be prepared for her to stare off into the distance with her tongue half out when it is not her turn to share the brain cell! Since she came from a colony, she has experience living with other cats. Any Supplies that go with pet (food, litter, leash, cat box, bedding, toys): litter box and starter food What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): she eats about a half cup of high protein kibble mixed in with 1-1&1/2 small cans of wet food. She is still trying to put on weight and recover from the starvation so she is eating quite a bit at the moment to catch up. :::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too!  Limit the overly processed dry foodand ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this). :::::::::::: More info here: FurryNationSalvation.Org/wetfood IF YOU WANT TO ADOPT: 1) Please show up with a cat carrier 2) Small adoption fee of: 20 3) I will call/text one month from adoption day just to make sure everything is going well 4) Please show up with your Driver's License. 5) Information sheet will be filled out (your information as well as mine) *Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you. Call/text me if interested in this kitty: 863-226-9036

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pumpkin (Lakeland, FL), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
