My story

Iggy is a 7 years old, 58 lbs, large breed mix dog. He’s an active dog for his age. He was originally adopted 2 years ago from the NYC Animal Shelter. In late July of 2024, he was surrendered back to the shelter for medical reasons. The veterinarian staff at the shelter notice he was not neutered and that caused him to have a perineal hernia. This made it painful for him to poop. Due to the limited capabilities the staff had at the shelter, he was put on the medical at-risk list to be euthanized. We were able to find a foster and pulled him a day before he was to be euthanized. Under our care, he was able to recieve the surgery, he so desparetly needed and neutered. He has recovered successfully and living his best life with our foster. About Iggy, he loves to play fetch, go on long walks, watches you work, and cuddle with you at home. His foster parent says he’s the best dog she’s ever fostered! He’s friendly outside with people, kids, and other dogs. He often likes to please and appreciates the attention you give him. He does go to his crate when asked. He loves car rides. He’s not territorial or have resource guarding issues. He does have separation anxiety but is improving with training each day. He will make for a great companion for anyone that adopts him!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Iggy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
