My story

Sara is a soft soul looking for a safe place to land. She is the kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention, she just quietly hopes for kindness. Shy and sweet, she’s still learning that the world can be gentle. When you first meet her she may pancake on her bed or shy away from touch, but she’s not aggressive - just scared. Once a leash is on she knows what to do. She walks beautifully and is easy to handle - she never pulls! In the play yard Sara stays on the outskirts, soaking it all in. She’ll let you sit beside her and pet her while she quietly shakes off her nerves. She doesn’t care much for toys or treats, but she does appreciate a calm space and a soft place to land. Her energy level is low, and her favorite activity is simply chilling in a cozy spot where she feels safe.Sara takes time to warm up, and even when she does, she won’t be the dog glued to your side. She’s more of the “I’ll sit nearby while you read a book” type. In places where she feels extra safe - like a dog bed or couch - she becomes more affectionate and seeks out gentle love. She’s fully housetrained and has done well with in a previous foster home with a calm 13-year-old child.Sara isn’t looking for the spotlight. She’s just hoping someone will notice the quiet beauty of a dog who’s been through a lot and still wants to trust. She may not greet you with tail wags and kisses right away, but with time, patience, and love, she’ll show you just how special she is.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt SARA, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
