My story

Hi, I'm River. I am almost 10 years young and so full of love and life!Do you love to give pets to a happy dog? I love receiving all the pets, and I give sweet kisses in return(but no slobber I promise!). I am an easy going guy who loves to settle down in lots of blankets and pillows, but I’m just as happy to join you on a walk. You can tell how happy it makes me by my swishy tail and the little bounce in my step. Oh, and I promise not to pull!For a long time, I didn’t have a warm bed or someone looking out for me, so I am a little nervous around new people. But a little patience and understanding will mean so much to me. I am very comfortable in my crate or a quiet space for myself. I love when I get the chance to sleep in the bed with my foster mom. I give her plenty of room to sleep and don’t hog the whole bed!I am a clever boy, happy to play with squeaky toys and my flirt pole, but I really love food! My foster mom knows food is the best reward when teaching me new things, but it also means she can’t leave her sandwich on the counter and leave the room for a minute (at least not if she expects it to be there when she gets back).I’ve lived with dogs before, but I would like to meet them first to see if we would get along as friends. I’m pretty spry for an older guy, so I would like a home with people who won’t get knocked over easily. A home with adults or older kids might be best for me.I am already neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccines and I take monthly heartworm & flea/tick prevention.If you’re looking for a good boi and a great companion, I would love to meet you! ##1668366##
