My story

This is Tia! A sweet, friendly 1 year old female Husky mix who found herself E-Listed at MCACC for kennel stress. After many months at the shelter, she had reached a point where the environment was just too much, and she wanted out. When we met Tia, she showed us how playful she could be and just how eager she is to learn. It appeared Tia had typical Husky energy, and wasn’t getting any of her physical or mental needs met in the shelter environment.  After finding a foster home for her, Tia has shown us what a sweet girl she is in a thriving environment. Tia adjusted well to her foster home, learning to use the dog door within a few days and quickly catching on to the daily routine. With her high husky energy, Tia does like to jump up on people to greet them. However, she has shown that she responds well to correction and with her willingness to learn, consistent training could curb this behavior.  With her energy needs constantly being met, Tia has not shown any destructive behavior in her foster home. She is well behaved in her crate where she currently eats her meals and spends the night. Tia is always ready for a walk and has very good leash manners with minimal leash pulling. When at home, Tia can be found playing fetch with her favorite tennis ball, chowing down on some treats, or cuddling up for a good belly rub. Tia would do best in an active home that will give her outlets for her high energy. She is currently in a foster home with other large dogs and is having an absolute blast. Having some playful dogs in her new home would definitely be a plus. We do have notes that Tia has a history of killing chickens (not uncommon at all, as our husky-lovers know), and because of this we would avoid cats as we do not know how she would act. She has been very sweet to all humans, but with her higher energy we would not recommend younger children (usually under 7 years old). If you think this friendly girl would make a great addition to your home, fill out an application to meet Tia! https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
