My story

Dogs are so forgiving. We truly don’t deserve them. Santos is the perfect example of this. Despite being emaciated, with chopped ears and painfully overgrown nails, this sweet boy still leaned in for pets and showered us with kisses. His body tells the story of a dog who hasn’t known much kindness, but he still sweet. Santos is starving, and while he eagerly accepted treats, who could blame him? It’s been far too long since his belly was full. We can’t wait to see him reach a healthy weight, never go hungry again, and finally experience the kindness he deserves. Came in as a stray on 9/4/24. Found with A280879 near 6200 N. Paulina, Chicago Adoptions are walk-in 12-6 daily at 2741 S. Western Ave. Chicago, IL Email visitcacc@cityofchicago.org for more information. The building is open 12-7 daily and adoptions end one hour before closing. All visitors 18 and older must have a government issued ID. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog to dog meet and greets for your current dog to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up to date rabies vaccination for your dog or dogs. Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
