My story

The hardships this scrawny guy must've went through before the shelter are hard to think about. Everyone should though. The more people aware, hopefully the less likely it will continue to happen. No dog should come to us so neglected and Nelski isn't even the worst we saw in a day. Nelski is just a puppy. He is happy and bouncy and of course loves treats. Nelski is learning new things every day and already looking so much healthier. He already knows sit and is just waiting for his person to come along and teach him new tricks. Came in as a stray on 9/2/24. Found near 1100 W 70th, Chicago Adoptions are walk-in 12-6 daily at 2741 S. Western Ave. Chicago, IL Email visitcacc@cityofchicago.org for more information. The building is open 12-7 daily and adoptions end one hour before closing. All visitors 18 and older must have a government issued ID. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog to dog meet and greets for your current dog to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up to date rabies vaccination for your dog or dogs. Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
