My story

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.Smores tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Due to the behavior shown, she may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced. A volunteer writes: Sometimes we have big stories and just can't find the right person to share them with. I'd love to sit with Smores and listen to even a little of her story, but that's not what Smores wants at the moment and that's ok. The right person for her story is out there. She's trying to find them but the Care Center is entirely too busy and overwhelming with people in and out all day. Smores lets us know she's a quiet kitty with a surprisingly loud voice, but sometimes the loudest voices are trying to explain something different. Smores will sometimes let us pet her and isn't one to turn down a treat, but a brighter future awaits for this sparkly little calico. Smores is hoping to find a forever family who will welcome her with patience, love, and just a few extra moments to gather her bearings to share her story.
