My story

Click here for Ingrid's Facebook Album *** 10/26: we were able to test Ingrid on her bird scenting abilities, (photos in her album). As she is being treated for Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, we weren't sure if her young brain and natural instincts would be hindered. We worked her quite a bit- let her chase a few birds and on our 4th try on a planted bird, she locked on point!! It was a light bulb moment!! It would be super great if we could find someone in the Chicago area that can continue with her antibiotics and training, even with the German Shorthaired Pointer club of Illinois as their big president was doing the handling honors for us. Inga is all puppy and consistent training is what she needs. She has so much potential. Ingrid aka Inga aka Iggy means "fair, beloved or beautiful" in Norse and Germanic cultures. Our Ingrid is definitely a beauty but kind of a wild child of the forest at the moment. As she was found as a stray-- no one came for her at the shelter. A LOT of GSP's are surrendered to shelters and rescues due to their high energy levels. If our forest fairy is also infected with Lyme disease as we suspect due to her high fever upon arrival and anxiety, she will settle down the longer we treat and become the intelligent companion dog she was meant to be. In the mean time, we are looking for a foster or foster to adopt home in the Chicago are that has a safe fenced in yard and playful dogs for her to help with her exercise needs as her brain heals. Please call Lisa at 6306941359 or email Lisa@illinoisbirddogrescue.org if you want to help make the difference in this sweet dog's life.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ingrid- Illinois, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
