My story

Nacho Potato is one of the wonderful pets available for adoption at Memphis Animal Services. One staff member spent a morning with Nacho Potato and said: "I took Nacho Potato out today for photos and playtime. He is SO CUTE! He had great kennel presentation, he was sitting and standing near the door when I got to him and was wagging his tail and trying to lick my hand. He let me put a leash and collar on him and walked through the kennel hallways easily. He tried to stop and sniff one or two dogs but was ready to take feedback from me and keep going. Once outside, Nacho immediately went to the bathroom and I believe he may be potty trained. He ran around for a minute, wagging his tail and sniffing the ground, but frequently checked in on me for pets. I got two tennis balls to play with him, and he fetched about twice (each time dropping the ball politely for me to pick it up without interference) but quickly got bored or tired and decided he didn't want to run anymore. When I crouched to say hello, Nacho flopped right against me and licked my face, snuggled into my arms and closed his eyes with a big sigh. He let me brush off his excess hair and was tolerant of me looking in his ears. He played and snuggled with me for about 20 minutes and was polite when I needed to leash him again. When walking back, he rarely pulled and mostly kept in pace with me by my side or a little in front of me. I was very impressed with his leash skills." On 11/5/24 Nacho Potato met another dog, Gadget. Nacho had shown signs of barrier reactivity, so a basket muzzle was placed. Once in the yard, he didn't attempt to attack the other dog. He was very stiff/tense with intros and attempted to show dominance multiple times (hard stare, sizing other dog up, necking, etc). He would sometimes growl at the other dog, but Gadget is a friendly/social dog that is often submissive, so he was tolerant of Nacho, but would walk away. Marking pet as single dog home due to dog testing. Pet has potential to do well in a home with other dogs with professional training. Video uploaded From Foster parent 3/13/25: Nacho Potato is a sweet, loving fellow. He absolutely adores his human! He is leash and crate trained. He loves treats. He eagerly sits for them and will gently take a treat from your hand.  He loves affection and is eager to please. He also loves to sit in the sun. Nacho Potato prefers to be the only pet. He’s very worthy of a great home and would be a great companion for anyone.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nacho potato, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
