My story

Location: Chamberlin, SD Meet Totoro: A Gentle Soul Looking for His Forever Home Totoro is a unique and endearing companion with his long legs and stretchable frame, making him as distinct in appearance as he is in personality. When he first arrived, he was timid and cautious around humans, but with the gentle encouragement of the resident dogs, he slowly blossomed. Initially warming up to the adults in his foster family, he has since grown comfortable around their children, aged 10 and 11. Now, Totoro is a giver of nose kisses, a hug enthusiast, and a fan of morning wake-up cuddles. This medium-energy pup would thrive in a quieter home, possibly one with another dog of similar size—around 30 pounds—to share his days. While he enjoys roughhousing with his canine companions, he’s not particularly fond of overly friendly puppies. Totoro loves spending time in the kitchen, where he keeps an eye on the action as meals are prepared as well as gazing out the living room window, observing the world outside and announcing the arrival of families at the nearby daycare. When he’s ready for some downtime, he retreats to his kennel, complete with a big, fluffy pillow for ultimate relaxation. Totoro's playful side shines through with his love for squeaky toys and chewing on bones. He’s a quick learner, picking up new tricks like sitting for treats—baby carrots are a particular favorite! Though he may bark when startled or when excitement builds among the other dogs, his overall demeanor is balanced and composed. Totoro is house-trained and appreciates the simple pleasures of life, from leisurely walks filled with sniffing adventures to curling up in bed for a night of snuggles. His bedtime routine involves claiming his spot on the bed and nestling next to one of his humans for the night, a testament to the trust he has built with his family. While Totoro may require patience and understanding in the beginning as he adjusts to his new environment, the bond he forms is deeply rewarding. With time, love, and a little effort, Totoro will undoubtedly become a cherished member of his forever family. ----- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (Distemper, Rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Totoro, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
