George Strait is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey, and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster! George Strait is: Neutered: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized - Currently taking medication for anxiety support when home alone More about George Strait: Housebroken: Doing well when on a consistent routine Crate trained: He has done best with free roam when home alone for a few hours at a time. When crated at home alone, he can become stressed and has difficulty settling. Leash walking: Doing well overall but he can tend to pull a bit toward small critters Dog social: He has seemed curious and friendly when he encounters other dogs. He may enjoy having a dog pal in the home to help him feel more comfortable and confident, and prefers a dog who matches his energy - has done well playing with well-matched friends. Cat social: Unknown, but he has shown prey drive toward cats he sees on walks Kid friendly: He has done well in spending time with older kids, but is likely not a match for younger kids as he can be protective of high value treats and his person. George Strait likes: - Going for car rides and walks - Being near his people and cuddling with his dino stuffy - Squeaky toys, Nylabones, snuffle mats, lick mats...all the toys! George Strait is a sweetheart who is gentle and attentive, and promises that (taking a line from his namesake) in all the world, you'll never find a love as true as his. He came to OTAT from a partner shelter in Texas, and was content to leave his "Texas exes" behind in his quest for a forever home. He loves walks and chilling on the couch, and when he puts his giant fluffy paw on your lap, you will not be able to help but scratch his soft furry ears! He is good at entertaining himself with enrichment toys and treats, but he just wants to be by you all the time. He has struggled with separation anxiety when home alone, and will need a patient adopter who can help him with this. He can sometimes become mildly mouthy when overly excited (like getting ready to go for a walk), and would appreciate an adopter who can help him channel his energy in positive ways, like working on puzzle toys or stuffed Kongs. He has also shown some resource guarding of high-value treats and of his person when strangers approach, so management in these situations will be needed. George Strait's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous supporter, and he is ready to "Check Yes" on his future home! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org ***
If you have any questions or would like to adopt George Strait, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
