My story

I am a long-term cat resident here at the Champaign County Humane Society! What does that mean? It means I have been available for adoption for over 90 days and am more than ready to find my forever home! In fact, the shelter is waiving my adoption fee for any approved applicant. Please stop by the shelter during open hours to visit with me! Alexandrite is a 3-year-old DSH available for adoption at CCHS! She came to us initially as a transfer from our local animal control facility after being found as a stray kitten with her siblings. She was adopted out, and, unfortunately, found as a stray again. Due to this, we do not know how she does in a home, but what we do know is that she is a sweet girl! She is very nervous when meeting new people and takes time to warm up. She may prefer a quiet, relaxed home with few stressors. She loves affection from her human companions. If you are considering adopting, you should stop in and meet Alexandrite! Alexandrite is a STAFF FAVORITE pet! Here's what Interim Adoption Supervisor, Becca, has to say about her: Alexandrite is a super sweet girl! She has made a lot of progress since she came here. She used to be very shy and would run and hide whenever someone came into her room, but now she would often run up to people who she is familiar with and acknowledge them when they enter. She is still nervous when first meeting new people, but she's a sweetheart once she warms up. She is a bit of an independent girly, but she is not afraid to rub up on you to ask for attention. Don't overlook this cutie!
