My story

Approximate Age: 3 years Approximate Weight: 20 lbs I just arrived to ODHS and my name is Gidget! We are still learning about each other. What they can tell you about me is I am a petite pup with a strong opinion on some things. I walk very well on a leash. I am also crate trained. I enjoy snuggling into my dog bed. I do struggle with resource guarding so I am best suited for a patient and dog savvy home without young children. I have had a bite on record related to this guarding. While I get along with other dogs they may not enjoy how bullish I can sometimes be. I do well overall with my person and can be quite the sweet girl but I likely will need to have some accommodations and boundaries in life. More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays 11am-3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs and families, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 3 days. Note: ODHS adopts within a 350 mile radius of Fredericksburg, Virginia. A $50 out of state fee applies.
