This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.Curacao is at-risk due to behavior concerns. Initially upon intake, Curacao was displaying high level warnings of fear, stress, and anxiety as he was hard barking, baring teeth, and both dodging and mouthing the leash. With a slow approach, he has become social with handlers, soliciting pets, and allowing handling. On street walks, Curacao is noted to be hypervigilant of his surroundings, and remains both alert and tense when spotting other dogs. Recently, he has shown signs of deterioration as there have been reports of him jumping onto the kennel doors after he is returned to kennel, sometimes even digging/pawing at the door while barking. He has also been observed to charge the front of kennel and lunge at a staff members as enrichment/medication is distributed. Medically, he has an umbilical hernia. There is an adorable video of me on social media! Click here to experience the cuteness! What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together!I would do best in a home with only adult humans.A volunteer writes: Happy scampers and soft snuggles are my favorite things about Curacao. I remember the first time we went to the park - his excitement with the fallen leaves barely contained with mini-spins and play-bows. Then in the snow, scampering and prancing, seemingly mesmerized with the winter wonderland. But Curacao is not all action, he's actually an easy pup to walk. He loves to sit by my side and linger on my lap, taking treats. In his kennel, I usually find him curled up, as if asleep. He's also polite to other pups, passing them by without a fuss. Curacao may be a "Go Slow" pup but with much to share. Could you be the one for his happily ever after? Another Volunteer Wrote: Curacao is one of our resident sweethearts, and he's been in residence too long! The volunteers can't understand why he hasn't been adopted in a heartbeat, but we sing his praises on pages and pages of walking logs. Here's what people have to say, summed up into bite-sized quotes: "Wonderful walker! Very affectionate, gentle." "Great guy!" "Great pup!" "Broke into a dance walking on leaves!" "What a snuggler!" And, simply, "Great, great, great!" We couldn't have said it better ourselves--please, put an end to our endless compliments, and while we will miss snuggling with this suburb pup, we'll be so much happier knowing he's curled up on your couch. Primary Color: Black Weight: 69.5 Age: 2yrs 6mths 2wks
