My story

The life of an animal rescuer is often not convenient. Calls for help often come at inopportune times and when the rescuer has a full house of fosters. One of our wonderful volunteers received a call from a neighbor about a stray cat who appeared pregnant and was in their back yard. They thought it would most likely be a TNR case. Volunteer Amy brought a trap baited with food to catch her. The thin tortie sported a very dirty collar and a pregnant belly. Obviously, someone's cat at one time, she was not chipped nor adorned with a tag on her grimy collar. Due to see a vet the following day, the young tortie became a mom sometime during the night, in her trap. This was around July 4th, so the babies were named for things associated with the 4th and momma was named Star. Looking very much like a split-faced tortoiseshell cat, her foster mom notes the small dots of color on her face look like cute freckles. While her coat is not long, it is very thick, giving her the look of a fluffy bear. Nearly two years-old, Star has some very delightful personality traits. She sleeps with her foster mom and wakes her with kisses to her hands. Sooo much better than an alarm! Star is also a champion biscuit maker! A cute, quirky trait of Star's is that she loves fleece, putting a small amount in her mouth and leaving it there like a fuzzy pacifier. A beautiful temptress with her belly-up pose, this does not mean she wants her belly rubbed. Cats are not always inviting belly rubs when they do this. Think about it. We aren't inviting belly rubs when we go belly up either, lol. She does, however, invite chin rubs and will allow you to pet her head. Star enjoys food, so you can bond at meal times! What is her favorite meal? She hasn't met a cat food she doesn't like! Star wants her 'tribe' to be adults only. That's the way she is most at ease and she deserves that. She also says she needs to be the feline queen of her territory...the only cat. So would you say that Star, with her bright- as-a-star coat, needs an adopter who is cat savvy? We confirmed with Star that this is a 'yes.' We don't know what her background was, but we know what her future can be with an adopter who wants to give Star the best of the rest of her life! If you are interested in meeting the kitty who loves fleece and chin scritches, go to www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PALC/Cat and fill out a no-obligation adoption application. A volunteer will be in touch to answer any questions and set up a meet and greet with you and Star. #adoptstar

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Star, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
