My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link is :    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   FOSTER COMMENTS: Hunter is a very energetic young dog who loves his humans.  Hunter was found as a stray and taken to a rural shelter extremely underweight.  He has gained weight and is learning to gain confidence after being in a shelter for two and a half months.  Hunter has made extreme progress with his foster family, but needs an experienced dog owner who has extra time to work on his training and manners. Hunter absolutely loves going for a run or long walk in the morning. When his fosters work from home, he lies nicely on the couch and waits for a break to go outside and play. He is an avid hiker in the making and absolutely thrives on adventures. He rides nicely in the car. He is housebroken and does not need to be crated.  He is not crated at night and sleeps nicely on the couch with no issues. His fosters have a hybrid work schedule, and he has been doing well being left alone for up to five hours.  Hunter will bring constant companionship to a potential adopter as he stays close to his fosters and will follow them all around the house. He loves to play with toys and would love a very active person who would include him in their adventures. Although he wants to be close to his people when he is tired, he does not like to be petted when he is sleepy.  Hunter doesn't do well with small dogs or cats.  He has interacted well with larger dogs he has met on walks. He loves playing with his foster sister.  He also lives with another dog who does not appreciate his high energy level, but he has learned to mostly leave her alone. Hunter will do best as either an only dog or living with a very patient, playful larger dog. Although he wags his tail when he sees kids, his play biting and jumping currently make him an unsuitable companion for very young people. He still gets overly excited when new people come to visit. He is very food motivated, which is a big help with his training. Because of his high energy level and vocal protests when left alone, he may not work well in an apartment or townhouse. He would do best with a fenced yard as he enjoys getting his zoomies out several times a day in the backyard. Hunter has made so much progress in his short time with BFPA and it should continue with a great family willing to love him and continue his training.  He deserves nothing less. If you want a companion on your life adventures set up a time to meet this sweet boy who deserves a forever home. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized after the trial period.   Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HUNTER?
