My story

Meet Cletus! He's a big snuggly baby and responds very well to his name; he'll come running to you when you call him for snuggles! He’s large, but doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He has lived with other cats who don’t like him and have swatted at him; he hasn't retaliated against them, but his patience is starting to be tested as time goes by. He does let one cat steal food from him if they're not fed separately; he's not aggressive, just steps aside or ignores their hissing. He has also lived with a large dog. They got along just fine and Cletus would try to snuggle up and boop noses. He was never afraid of the dog and has been friendly to all the animals he has been introduced to and is very curious by nature. He's done very well during visits to the vet (blood draws, bandage changes, overall exam) and he'll let you trim his nails. He enjoys being picked up and snuggled, both being lifted up and held upright and also being held like a baby with his back against your arms (see photo - which also shows how long he is!). His favorite activities include looking out the window, eating, snuggling and stealing food. Overall, he’s a very friendly boy, but is massively food motivated and his foster is convinced he’s half raccoon (based on stealing food) and half dog (for how well he responds to his name). Cletus is VERY food motivated and will readily take any food offered, which means he cannot be trusted to be free fed and needs an automatic feeder or assigned meals. He will otherwise eat all the food offered and not portion it out. He's also a serious food thief and will eat anything that’s not locked up via baby proofed cabinets. This includes fruit and veggies, but his favorite things to steal are carb based, like tortillas or bread. They absolutely cannot be left on counters or in cabinets that aren’t child proofed (RCHS will supply his adopter with the needed baby locks). Are you the special forever home this sweet boy is looking for? All cats go to their new homes spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please fill out an application here: bit.ly/Cat-Adopt-App.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cletus, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
