My story

Abernathy, a guardian of the heart! A gentle, unassuming presence, this lovely girl is searching for a family who appreciates a comfy space. Abernathy might be named after the Crazy Cat Lady from the Simpsons, but beneath her shy exterior lies a gentle soul waiting to be discovered. This delicate lady is waiting for the right family to let down her defences and discover the depth of affection! ABOUT ABERNATHY: - At shelter- Abernathy has a hidden sweet side behind her quiet exterior.- She enjoys peace and quiet in her cubby, a safe distance away.- She`ll lean into gentle pets on her cheek and chin from the back-scratcher, and occasionally by hand when given time to warm-up. - Bribing her with some food can encourage her to be more social.- For a select few who have gained her trust, she`s a playful little soul but a word to the wise, don`t go near her soft toys! - Abernathy is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans. - Abernathy is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help her become more comfortable around people.- Abernathy is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and has received core vaccinations. ABERNATHY`S IDEAL HOME: - A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Abernathy settle into her new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Abernathy with a successful transition to her forever home.- Abernathy shares her current space with other cats and could do well with another cat in the house who can help her socialize and feel more confident. Are you looking for a feline friend with many snuggles to give, and who`s as quirky as her namesake? Then Abernathy is for you! Submit an application today! If you have any questions about Abernathy or the adoption process, please contact cats@etobicokehumanesociety.com

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Abernathy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
