My story

Buster is looking for his forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Meet Buster, an incredibly resilient, loving, affectionate, gentle pup looking for his forever family. Buster was saved at the very last minute from an area shelter where he patiently waited for his happily ever after while being extremely sick. Due to capacity limits and breed restrictions, Buster was in queue for euthanasia when his foster family, a team of Buster fans, and his rescue jumped into action to save his life. Buster's resiliency shined bright immediately after overcoming a serious lingering infection that required urgent medical care after barely exiting the shelter with his life. Buster beat all the odds and healed under the loving care of his foster parents and through it all showed how gentle, sweet, loving, and easy going he is. Buster's foster parents have fostered countless dogs over the years and report that Buster is one of the easiest pups they have ever met, and that he will make an excellent family member. Buster's foster parents report he is extremely loving and affectionate and prefers to soak up all love that comes his way. Buster is not a clingy guy but will never turn down a cuddle session, nor does he show any separation anxiety, he just patiently waits to receive any affection and attention that is shown him and will relish in that love. Buster is potty trained and has proven to have excellent house manners, easily respecting his foster home and being nondestructive with free roam. Buster's personality is easy-going and gentle-he interacts gently, takes treats gently, and plays with his foster parents gently too-no jumping or rough housing! Buster is low energy, enjoying leisurely strolls to take in the sights and sniffs and is happy with a causal stroll a day and some days he's content to just sleep the day away without exploring the outdoors. As for leash manners, you guessed it-they are impeccable as Buster is a gentle walker with no pulling, tugging, jumping or swerving. Buster rarely barks and is perfectly quiet alongside his foster mom as she works remotely. Buster spends his days relaxing in a favorite spot, soaking in the sun, enjoying a sniffy walk with his foster parents and foster furry sibling, and just generally likes to take life in and enjoy the ride! As for rides, Buster is a perfect gentleman in the car and prefers shotgun, when allowed, sitting like a VIP in the passenger seat! Buster has not shown any resource guarding issues and has been a perfect gentleman with all handling, including baths, having his paws held and nails trimmed, ears cleaned, trips to the vet, taking medicines, which he easily does with his meals or with some peanut butter. For fun, Buster enjoys a casual stroll, hanging out with his people watching tv, and activities such as stuffed Kongs, licki mats, snuffle mats, beef cheek rolls, hard chew bones and stuffed toys. As for stuffed toys, while he mostly sucks them like a binky, like most pups, he will eventually destuff them searching for squeakers. Buster knows basic commands such as sit, come, and is working to master stay. Buster sleeps through the night and enjoys spooning his foster parents but is also content sleeping in a doggie bed if his forever family prefers. Buster has done excellent with meeting all strangers whether that's during a walk with his foster family, a trip to Home Depot with foster dad, a visit to the vet, maintenance contractors that have visited his foster home. While his foster family does not have children, given his gentle and sweet demeanor, he would likely enjoy the company of older kids and teens. Buster has also not met cats, and while he has shown some curiosity in small critters such as squirrels and rabbits, he is easily redirected at the request of his foster parents. Buster has resided with the resident pup at his foster home, a female bully, and has mixed reactions to her, alternating between being overly interested and excited inside the home when she is near to walking and coexisting without reaction to her outside of the home. Buster does not go out of his way to cause trouble and may enjoy residing with a furry sibling with slow introductions over a period of time or he may be perfectly content to have his forever family to himself. Any forever family should be willing to spend the time to understand Buster's preferences in this regard to ensure everyone lives happily ever after. Buster is an absolutely loving, affectionate, obedient, gently pup, who is very easy to love and care for, and whose wonderful attributes will make someone happily ever after. ATTRIBUTES: Buster has done well with dogs but needs a slow intro and someone able to watch dog interactions. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
