My story

A flock of sweetness. Hello! If you’re looking for a pocket-sized shepherd, look no further. My name is Goose but I have many nicknames, including Goosebear, Silly Goose, and Miss Legs (you’ll have to ask my foster mom about that one). I am a 4 year-old spayed shepherd/hound mix weighing 37 lbs. I was rescued from a hoarding situation in Ensenada by TAP who worked on my rehabilitation. I am now searching for my forever home. My name truly reflects my personality! I just need some time to warm up to new people and environments to gain confidence and overcome my initial shyness. Once I feel comfortable my silliness knows no bounds! I love hopping up on the couch to cuddle with my humans or curling up in my doggie donut bed. If I’m not enjoying a delightful daytime nap you can find me happily trotting around outside, exploring everything. However, I am still working on my leash manners. I often get very excited when I see other dogs, letting out a high-pitched whine to signal that you should hold on tight to my leash before I start twirling with joy at the sight of another canine friend. That being said, I get a bit nervous when meeting new dogs and people so slow introductions are best. Did I mention how much I love my walkies? I enjoy them immensely and would thrive with a family that likes to go on walks and explore trails. For car rides I need some medication for motion sickness and anxiety to make the trip to the great outdoors more enjoyable for everyone. I adore my canine pal and enjoy the company of a confident dog in the house to help me learn and feel secure when my humans leave. I am learning how to play fetch (and bring it back to my human!), how to be a good guard dog (barking only when a stranger approaches the door), and how to manage my separation anxiety by having another dog or one of my favorite humans with me at all times. I would love a playmate to chase and run with at the park! I eat all of my meals and snacks in my crate which is a happy place for me when I need a little rest. I am most comfortable if left out of the crate with a doggie friend or being crated beside my doggie pal if my humans leave the house. I need slow introductions to new people, especially men, who make me a bit nervous. I would do best in a home without young kids. My adopters will need to understand that I am the sweetest girl, I just need some patience to gradually reveal my silly personality at my own pace. My adoption fee is $300 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/   ##1778490##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Goose 2, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
