My story

Name: Snoop Dogg Nicknames: Snoop. D O Double G (duh.) Baby Boy. Big Man. snoop snoop snoop dawg (specifically with the w)". Snoopy. Snoopy-doop. Breed: Long-haired, fluffy Pit Bull. Otherwise known as Poodle/Golden/Pit Bull (yes, yes he is). Pittie-Poo if you're fancy. Doppelgänger: Muppet Age: 1.5 year Weight: 82 lbs. Sex: Male Before OMD: Brought to the city shelter due to landlord issues. When we heard he was so nervous with the shelter volunteers but kept trying to sweetly give them his paw, our hearts melted. Energy Level: Medium. He does have energy and he's certainly not as chill as his namesake, but with daily exercise and stimulation he settles well. Tag Line: He is beauty, but he is not grace. Descriptors: VGB. Good-hearted. Super smart. Lover. Goofy. Sensitive. Does a good impression of: A tiny horse galloping when he runs. A tree climber when he stands up against the trunk to get a better look at squirrels. A professional wrestler when he meets the right playmate. What we love most: Well of course the whole "I'm nervous, I'm unsure, BUT I have manners so I will give you my paw" clincher. When he stares up at his person with big eyes until they start petting him and he leans into the pets. When he gets tired from playing and wants to be a cuddle bug. What he loves most: Tennis balls in all situations: fetching thrown tennis balls, gathering them in the yard or house, casually carrying around an emotional support tennis ball in his mouth. A leisurely walk. Treat puzzles. Tug of war. Couch cuddles. Sitting politely while you scratch his big head. Following back and forth while you mow the yard. Cuddles. Good at: He is a smart boy and knows commands (sit, stay, paw and down). Takes treats gently. Great on leash...after you finish the chase game of trying to first get him on the leash. When he gets tired playing fetch he will walk to the ball, not retrieve it and then plop down. Working on: He can be exuberant and jumps when excited, but is easily distracted with another command. May attempt to counter surf for tennis balls or freshly grilled burgers but sits when caught, errrrr, told to sit. 🙂 Important note: Snoop absolutely loves his foster families (he’s had a few!) and all household members; but can be uncomfortable and uncertain with visitors to the home, as well as certain new people approaching him directly on walks/out in public. He will do best in a low-traffic (few visitors) home, with a family who is willing to have him meet new people slowly and properly, and/or simply crate him when visitors are over. Kids: 10 + please. He is strong and would do best with dog savvy older kids. Dogs: Yep! Loves to play with dogs of all sizes and is respectful of other dog's space, even letting other dogs take his precious tennis balls with zero aggression. Cats: Nope. They are way too interesting to him. Ideal Home: Low traffic home. Would love a human sibling or parent who is/was an aspiring MLB pitcher and is happy to throw him balls repeatedly. Would also love a family who takes regular walks. House trained: Yes, 100% fine when he gets in a routine Crate trained: Yes, goes in and recharges without a peep. Snoop is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is available to residents of IL and CT and their surrounding states. Please complete an application if you are interested in adopting.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Snoop Dogg, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
