Amanda has been nothing short of amazing. Saying she's sweet is an understatement-she's the goodest girl who loves affection but also enjoys having her alone time. She's crate-trained and appears housebroken as she knows to do her necessities outside or on a pad when needed. Her leash pulling has improved and is slowly learning to walk beside me. She's a licker and always enjoys giving lots of kisses. Otherwise, we haven't had any troubles, and she has done very well meeting new people. Video: Amanda Waller gets belly rubs: https://youtube.com/shorts/r8ImRblRMTA?feature=share Petting Amanda Waller: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/z-NtL7dpNfI?feature=share Behavior: Per staff on 9/12: Amanda Waller got out for a dog meet today. She was able to share a couple nice sniffs with the other dog, but they jumped at each other suddenly and they snarled at each other. Neither of them bit or injured each other, but did make a lot of noise. We were able to separate them immediately, and they did not escalate, but Amada Waller remained very fixated on Fall Breeze. Per staff on 9/10: Attempted a dog meet with Croissant. He was a lot and was launching at the fence between them and then still launching towards her once we went through the gate. Amanda Waller didn't have any issues. She seemed a little avoidant of him because he had a lot of energy and was very forward. Per staff on 9/9: Appeared stressed in kennel Per Volunteer 8/3/24: Super easy to leash in kennel and walks very nicely, minimal pulling. She's a skinny little mama! She lovessss treats and since she's so emaciated, she can be a little snatchy with them so give treats with an open palm. She loves pets- she's super affectionate! sweet girl who enjoyed rubs all over. She had meets with other dogs only through the fence and she was wagging and excited and sometimes barking, snarled at one of them but it was after a few minutes of sniffing. She loves giving kisses and being so affectionate! Per Staff 8/1/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Standing at the front of the kennel with mid level wags and soft eyes. She was patient for leashing and came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulled minimally; said hi very nicely to two staff members on her walk. HANDLING: When she came into the room Amanda was nervous but sweet. She approached with a low body and head but looked up with soft eyes and low was. Once I gave her some pets she was all wiggles and climbed into my lap giving face kisses. She is so sweet, just needs to know that you're a person she can trust. When you crouch down she will lean right in and soak up some love. She allowed all handling with no issues at all. She wasn't super interested in toys or play, just wanted to be close and get pets and cuddles. PLAY: Followed me around but more so out of fear.nervousness than actually wanting to engage in play. TOYS: Interest but no possession, would sniff at toys but never chased any Medical notes: On 9/4, Amanda was diagnosed with pneumonia. During a recheck on 9/4, staff noted: Finished second course of antibiotics (azithromycin 125 mg PO x 10 days) on 8/30, but still has a significant cough. ... Radiographs, VD and lateral thorax: severe alveolar pattern in the right cranial and middle lung lobes ... Infectious pnuemonia A third PCR test done on 8/22 showed that Amanda was negative for pneumovirus and canine adenovirus type 2, but remained positive for mycoplasma and herpesvirus type 1. During a recheck for URI symptoms on 8/21, staff noted that Amanda's symptoms were persisting. She was prescribed azithromycin. On 8/12, another PCR test was done which showed that Amanda remained positive for pneumovirus (in addition to mycoplasma, and canine adenovirus type 2). On 8/5, Amanda was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. PCR test results indicated that she was positive for pneumovirus (in addition to mycoplasma, and canine adenovirus type 2). She was prescribed doxycycline. On 8/1, staff noted, following up to Amanda's prior exam, that her abdomen was now soft and pliable and her food bloat appeared to have resolved. During a followup exam on 7/31, staff noted: Thin body condition Flea allergy dermatitis (tentative) Suspected food bloat tense, firmly distended (dog examined shortly after 3 pm meal) Very thin body condition Sweet and exuberant lady! NPO tonight/tomorrow AM (sign placed) and then recheck abdominal palpation in AM. If still firmly distended, abdominal rads next step. During an intake exam on 7/30, staff noted: clear but small amount of discharge and redness around eyes, Raw scaly skin around muzzle, Tartar build up on teeth. missing/ thinning fur. very dry skin. pressure sores on hips. no live fleas found. BAR super friendly
