Your Loyal and Loving Companion is WaitingMeet Maddy — a captivating hound mix (possibly with a dash of Dachshund) who’s around three years old. Her journey hasn’t been easy, but this brave girl has emerged stronger, sweeter, and more eager than ever to find a forever home.Once overwhelmed by fear and anxiety, Maddy has made remarkable progress thanks to the loving guidance of the Happy Gentle Dog Training program. She’s now ready to bloom in a home filled with patience, love, and encouragement.Maddy’s Personality: A Heartwarming BlendMaddy is a medium-sized dog with a gentle soul and a playful heart. She’s affectionate, alert, and curious—always ready to bond with her people and explore the world by their side. She thrives on connection and will offer you unwavering loyalty, trust, and companionship in return. Her Ideal Home: Calm, Patient, and SupportiveMaddy is looking for a home that understands her past and is committed to her future. She would do best with an active individual or family who can provide:•Patience & Stability – A calm, predictable environment helps her feel safe.•Older Children Only – Younger kids’ high energy may overwhelm her.•Positive Reinforcement – Continued encouragement will help her confidence grow.Special Considerations:•Fenced Yard Required – Her hound instincts love to explore!•No Young Children – She’s gentle but needs a peaceful home.•Ongoing Training Encouraged – To build on the incredible progress she’s already made.A Story of Resilience and HopeMaddy’s story is one of survival and second chances. She was a frightened stray, suffering from a gunshot wound when Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue captured her. After receiving full medical care and clearing stray hold at the local shelter, she was adopted—but sadly, her story took another difficult turn.Unbeknownst to the adopters, one of the family members was suffering from dementia and began to mistreat Maddy. The environment became unsafe for her, and she was returned deeply traumatized.Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue rescued her a second time, this time recognizing that Maddy needed far more than just a safe place—she needed emotional and psychological healing. She was enrolled in the Happy Gentle Dog Place, where expert trainers used Constructional Reinforcement Training to gently help her rebuild trust, confidence, and joy.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maddy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
