My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HOMER IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR AN INDIVIDUAL ASKING TO REHOME THEIR DOG. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW. Homer is a lovable, snuggly pit with a lot of energy still at 7 years old. He knows basic commands (sit, lay down, stay, come, shake), is used to leashed walks, and loves cuddling on the couch or bed with his humans. He also enjoys giving kisses, scratches behind his ear, belly rubs and playing with toys (although you’ll need indestructible toys haha). Homer is used to being home during the day while we go to work, and he doesn’t have any issues being left alone during the workday. He is up to date on shots and neutered. We can provide a dog bed, food, bowls, leash, etc.    Homer would need to be the only animal in the home (dog reactive most of the time after 10 minutes or so of meeting but can pass them on the street during walks unless they lunge at him), no cats (or would likely be fine with a cat that keeps to itself) and no kids due to resource guarding and a bite incident. The two bites were not large and required glue but not stitches and were related to resource guarding.    A potential adopter would need to have knowledge (or willingness to learn) of resource guarding and the capacity to properly manage it. However, Homer is a sweet dog 99% of the time but just needs an environment suitable to not trigger his resource guarding, which I believe he will thrive in. We have done training through K9 Koncepts, which is supposed to be open for the entirety of Homer’s life, so we could potentially transfer that over to the adopter for free, if interested and after contacting K9 Koncepts to make sure that is a possibility. If you are interested in adopting Homer, please contact:Erica.  email: Erica.cranford11@gmail.com  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:13 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Homer, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
