My story

Waylon is a 3-year-old tabby boy with the sweetest heart and a story that makes him all the more special. He came to us after his previous owner could no longer care for him, and despite the changes in his life, Waylon has shown nothing but love and resilience. Waylon was born with Manx syndrome, which means he’s missing some of the bones and nerves at the end of his spine (and he has no tail!). Waylon is also FIV+ and FeLV+, so he’ll need to be either be an only cat or live with other FeLV+ positive kitties. Despite these challenges, Waylon doesn’t let anything stop him from being the affectionate companion he was meant to be. He gets along wonderfully with the other cats in his room and is often the first one to greet visitors. You’ll usually find him by the door, softly crying for someone to come over and give him the love and attention he craves. Once you do, he’ll melt into your hands with gratitude. Furkids is committed to finding loving homes for FELV+ and FIV+cats. We provide post-adoption care for FELV or FIV related illnesses at our shelter clinic. Please contact medical@furkids.org to schedule your appointment. Routine care, including vaccines and wellness exams, is the adopter’s responsibility. Furkids will not go through heroic measures to prolong the life of an animal when it is suffering or has reached the end of its natural life. We focus on providing comfort and dignity to the animals, prioritizing their quality of life over extended treatment that may not improve their condition.
