Dove

My story

My name is Dove, and I’m a bit of a shy one, so please forgive me if I don’t appear all friendly and outgoing at first. I am a 12 year old 13 lb Terrier mix and I came to Forever Loved after my lifelong owner passed away. I lived a very quiet and secluded existence with another doggy companion, so when I found myself homeless, I was quite overwhelmed. I didn’t eat much, but overall, the vet found me to be in good health. I’ve been in the loving care of a wonderful foster for a while now and I’ve made significant progress in getting over some fears, but that special care will need to continue in my forever home, too. I really love the company of other dogs and would benefit from having a furry friend who will also help show me this world is not such a scary place. The only time I don’t like another dog around me is when I’m eating, because I don’t like to share. I am mostly house trained, but occasionally may have an accident when left alone or overnight. I do know how to use potty pads though. My new favorite activity in the whole world is to go on “sniffaris” with my foster mom. I’ve gotten used to the harness and leash with my beloved foster but will need you to be patient and not expect me to quickly let you put it on. I am a “special” girl and will require lots of positive, safe experiences so please have patience and compassion. If you have the time to slowly spend several visits meeting me, dang, what a confidence booster that can be! I may not be the easiest dog; I will require more patience and love than most fearful dogs, and I may not be a social butterfly, but if you’ve ever truly wanted to “rescue” a sweet soul that needs to experience a safe life again, I promise to entertain you with zoomies and joy!
