My story

Poppy spends her days between a foster home and the shelter. She is available for foster or adoption! Email applications@chicagocaninerescue.org to set up a meet + greet!Poppy is a big-hearted homebody with a goofy streak and a serious love for people. Whether she’s snoozing in her crate, doing her little “I gotta potty” dance, or curling up next to you after a long day, Poppy is the definition of a good girl. She’s an excellent cuddler, the ultimate Netflix companion, and super chill around the house—perfect for someone who loves quiet, cozy evenings.She’s house trained, crate trained, and has previously lived with kids—total best friend material! Poppy bonds hard and fast with her humans and prefers a life free of dog drama (she’d rather avoid other dogs entirely). If she landed a fenced-in yard, she’d never need another walk—but her foster mom has been working hard to help her feel safer on walks by keeping a routine, and Poppy has been making steady progress. Potty walks are short and sweet—just enough for important business and a little neighborhood surveillance.In a yard, though? That’s her stage. She’ll chase the water hose like it’s her sworn enemy, throw down some zoomies, and survey her kingdom from the top of a picnic table like the queen she is.
