To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Duke and Earl are bonded and must be adopted together. How would you describe the cat's general personality? Duke is an outgoing kitty, whereas Earl is a little more shy. Both are very well behaved and calm cats! They are both very friendly and love human interaction! Does the cat enjoy being pet? Both Duke and Earl love being pet! If you put your hand out towards them, they will usually come up and nuzzle their faces into your hand! Does the cat come on your lap? We have not had them come on our lap yet (we only have had them with us for a short time), but we don’t think they would mind sitting if they come to trust you well! Does the cat like to be held? Both the cats do not mind being carried or held. Does the cat sleep in your bed? To get acquainted with our home, they both have been staying in the living room so far and not in our bedrooms (again we haven’t had them for too long). But they do like to sit next to us on the couch and snooze or chill next to us while we watch television! Does the cat seek your attention? Duke sometimes comes up to ask for attention or meow outside our doors when he is looking for us. Earl asks for more attention by requesting more pets when we stop giving him pets. How vocal is the cat? Duke and Earl are not very vocal. Duke will sometimes make small noises outside our door to get our attention when he is feeling lonely. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes. Duke and Earl like to scratch. We recommend getting a more standing up scratcher since they don’t seem to enjoy the flat ones as much. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, Duke and Earl use the litter box very well. They are both very neat and tidy kitties. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No, Duke and Earl are super gentle and calm cats. They have never swatted or done anything aggressive with each other or with people! To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Duke is very outgoing and will come up to new people and explore new environments well. Earl is a bit more shy towards new people and places–he will hide out a little when he feels uncomfortable, but comes out in a few hours or a day at maximum. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Earl is a bit shier than Duke, but he really loves affection! When you pet him, he won’t ever want you to stop (and his big, round eyes look so cute when he wants more pets it really is hard to stop)! After a while of getting pets, the cats will flop over and demand belly pets, and will not stop purring! In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Duke and Earl are such polite and well-behaved cats! You can really tell when you are with them that they enjoy being around you and hanging out alongside whatever you are doing! If you want cats that love interaction, but also are calm and chill and don't mind being left alone to snooze on the couch or in bed, these cats are for you! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Duke and Earl love to eat and have been very well loved by their previous owner, but this also led to some extra weight gain. They are super adorable as is, but to stay healthy they are currently on a slight food restriction diet. They have been managing well throughout it though!
