My story

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Sparky is 8 months old (as of 6 May 2024), weighs 50lbs, is intact, is up to date on his vaccines, and is not microchipped.  Sparky's guardian adds:  "While fostering him, my wife and I take turns working from home to stay with him.  We have left him in his crate on occasion for a few hours at a time.  Most recently we have started to leave him home alone without the crate.  We have done that a few times for an hour or so each time.  At night, he sleeps on the floor next to our bed.  Sparky knows 'sit', 'paw', 'stay', and 'off'.  He dislikes/fears people (adults and kids) he doesn't know or sees as they walk by our house, other dogs, and bikes." Sparky's guardian explains why he has made the decision to rehome him: "We were never intending to keep Sparky as we were not looking for a dog.  Someone gave/surrendered him to my daughter at a gas station in March.  She felt that she was in a better position to find the dog a home than this person was so she agreed to take him.  Since we have a house with a yard, we agreed to take him temporarily. In the meantime, we took him to our vet to get him all his shots and treatments.  We thought at one point that we may keep him, but our busy lifestyles, the fact that he doesnt get along with our cat, and that we live in a busy neighborhood (he barks at people passing by and I work from home at times), doesnt make this a good fit.  " Sparky's guardian states the following regarding children:  Sparky previously lived with children (aged 4 or 5), his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "I am not sure how he reacts to children in the home since his only exposure with us has been to our friends and family who are all adults.  He does bark at children when they pass by our house, but he does that to adults too.  He is a friendly, playful dog once he has met you so I think he would be good with kids too.  We just haven't had the opportunity to test that out yet.  It is our understanding that he lived with a young child before he was surrendered to my daughter.  They needed to give him up, because they were overwhelmed with a new baby."  Sparky's guardian statese the following regarding children:  Sparky lived with a dog, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "It is our understanding that he had a [canine] brother.  He barks and lunges at other dogs.  It is difficult to walk him in our busy neighborhood.  Our direct neighbors have 2 huskies and after an initial display, they all get along and he visits them quietly at the fence each day.  He does not bark at them at all anymore." Sparky's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Although Sparky lives with a cat, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "We have a cat and we need to keep her locked in another room.  He is aggressive toward her and wants to chase her.  Sometimes he will lay at the gate quietly and just watch her but most of the time he barks at her." Sparky's guardian describes him as: Very active Barks alot Playful Friendly Affectionate Fearful House-Trained Sparky's guardian describes his ideal future home:  Sparky loves to play fetch in his current fenced back yard, though a fenced yard is not required.  A quiet neighborhood would be nice, but Sparky is still young and can work through the passersby through consistent training and confidence boosting.   Rehoming Fee:  $50 Location:  Bel Air, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1.
