While her name is Loca, her temperament is anything but! Loca is a shy and docile lady who is definitely scared in the loud shelter environment, but warms up with time and space! She's pretty low energy and very easy to handle! Loca is looking for her forever human. Loca is a 5 year old spay female who was picked up by our animal protection officer on 4/22. Loca is in a foster home through ACCT Philly. Interested adopters should email foster@acctphilly.org. VIDEOS -- Loca getting pets https://youtu.be/E-7qF7sWX0U Behavior: Per Volunteer 5/12: Loca leans in for pets and loves to sit right next to her person. She pulled towards another dog outside. Not interested in toys but loved to sit by her volunteer friends. Loca is easy to leash and walks nicely through the main shelter. Day Trip Notes 5/11: Loca was really good with the car, enjoyed the car ride and was very excited. She's really friendly and loves pets and treats. She did pull quite a bit through our walk and showed a lot of interests in other dogs and she was difficult to handle especially when other dogs around. But she was learning quickly, towards the end we were able to get her to understand sit and wait when she gets too excited. Per Volunteer 5/1: Loca was very wiggly in her kennel and sat by the door of her kennel with soft eyes, looking up, excited to be leashed and go outside. Didn't pull very much on leash for me at all. She stopped to say hello to a stranger who gave her a treat on the way out. Good, loose wiggly body language with a fence meet with another dog. Very easy to return to kennel. Per Volunteer 4/24/24: Very easy to leash and walk! She was pretty shy and seemed scared, shaking a lot of the time we were together, but she warmed up towards the end. She was gentle with handling, didn't show much interest in treats. After some time she came to me for pets, enjoying back scratches and giving me tail wags. Seemed most scared with loud noises, which there were a lot of on this nice day in Philly! She looked to me in those moments. Didn't show much interest in toys. Seemed very interested in another dog who walked by Per Staff 4/23/24: Loca was wagging at the front of kennel with soft eyes when I came up to Her. She was patient for leashing and exited without any issues. No issues returning In the room loca was friendly towards me and had a relaxed body. She explored around the room and then came over to me wiggling. When a new handler entered the room she greeted her with loose body language as well. Allowed all over handling without issue and leaned in when petting her. Had good manners and was very easy to handle. She is fairly independent, but also tolerant and easy to interact with.
