Hi there! My name is Kylie. I'm a spayed 2-3 year old girl who arrived at the shelter in February of last year in pretty rough shape. In my foster home I gained nearly 30 lbs!! I'm now healthy and happy and looking for my forever home. Here's what Kylie's foster mom has to say: Kylie is first and foremost very sweet. She loves people and other dogs. Sometimes she can get a little jumpy and mouthy when she gets excited. For this reason, she should only go to a home with older children. We are working on this by turning our backs to her and/or replacing a "bad thing (your shoe or your sleeve) with a "good thing (a chew toy). She is very strong but pulls minimally on the leash. She is good for short walks, and she loves to sniff all the things. She can at times leash bite, but she is easily distracted with a cookie or a treat. She has her moments of running around the yard but she tends to tire out pretty quickly. She absolutely loves her tug toy. She knows to wait until she's told "go". She knows all her commands - sit, stay, paw, other paw, all the way down, tummy. She is VERY treat motivated so she's easy to redirect. In her foster home she lives with 2 female dogs. They generally get along great but they have had a few "disagreements. I think she would be fine in a home with other dogs but I think she could also be fine as an only dog. Kylie would probably be best in a home with no cats, dogs smaller than her (she doesn't realize her size) or other small animals. She is housebroken with the caveat that her foster home has a doggie door, she has access to a big fenced in yard and her foster mom works from home. She is crate trained and goes right in with a treat but she doesn't need to be in it - she's not destructive at all. Her foster mom is happy to answer any questions and would welcome a meet and greet most anytime. Thanks for taking the time to read all about Kylie! On 12/17/23: I am the biggest fan of this short little gal. She is such a pleasure to have at our adoption events. Kylie lights up any room she struts into with a happy smile and wiggly body. Kylie has done well meeting dogs of all sizes at the events - even a small 4lb chihuahua puppy! Kylie took it upon herself to make sure she made herself small for the chihuahua puppy.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt KYLIE, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
