ZEPHYR

My story

Zephyr is a friendly, loyal dog who needs an experienced owner, a yard large enough to run around in, and preferably at least one other dog to play with. He is doing very well in his foster home. He loves playing hard with the other dogs he lives with and getting pets from his foster mom. He does great on a leash as long as he has a pronged training collar so he does not have any doubts about his human being in charge. If he does not know who is in charge, he will become destructive and, if not immediately, corrected, the destructive behavior will escalate and he will become fearful and anxious. His adopter will need to focus on setting good boundaries and creating an environment where he can thrive, instead of teaching him tricks.He was previously adopted into a family that had young children, and he did well with the kids. He was returned to the foster home where he lived before being adopted, due to destructive behavior and increasing anxiety and fearfulness. He has never shown any aggression. However, because he needs an owner who will be very firm with him and provide immediate correction for inappropriate behavior, he will do best in a home without young children.Zephyr must be crated when his owner is not at home so that he does not become anxious and destructive. His crate is a “safe space” that he can retreat to when he becomes overstimulated or just needs a break. This very good boy will thrive in the right home, where he knows who is in charge and has clear boundaries. His foster mom will let a potential adopter do a trial visit to make sure he is a perfect fit before an adoption is finalized.
