Venus von Vellmar is a stunning 2-year-old long-haired German Shepherd. She is super-sweet, loves to greet any person walking by her, and loves to bury her head in your arms. She has a medium energy level, enjoys roaming around, and knows her “Sit” and “Down” commands. She is treat-motivated and is gentle when she takes them. Venus has great social skills. She breezes through interactions during outings and group walks. In playgroups, she has a comfortable and calm attitude. She explores her surroundings and is a good greeter. Dogs don’t hold her attention - her focus shifts back to her people, whose affection she craves. She loves to explore the outdoors alongside you and is a wonderful companion on hikes. She stays by your side, curiously studies plants, animals, and rocks that come across her path, and is not afraid to take breaks. In the car, she is calm and loves to stare out the window. You will catch her sticking her nose out from time to time to take in all the different scents. Expect her to curl up and fall asleep after a little while, but the moment you get to your destination, her tail will be wagging, and she will be ready to go! She is bright and cheerful, appreciative of all the attention you give her, and so easy to shower with love. Submit an application for her - you just might be the one who gets to tell her that she belongs to you! Rescued from the South Los Angeles animal shelter. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Venus von Vellmar YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Venus von Vellmar, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
