Dan the Man

My story

Every now and then when we post a dog for adoption, someone who once knew the dog messages us and provides more history. Dan the Man came to us as a "stray" mid March. He was recently posted to our Facebook in an adoptable dog post and his former owner saw and contacted us. His real name is Sully. His life was saved from an overcrowded shelter in Missouri doing their best to save everyone they can. His past owner loves him dearly but was unable to keep him. Here are photos she shared with us. She re-homed him to a man in Davenport who then decided he did not want him so he brought him to us as a stray dog. (It's not ideal, but we're not mad and are always thankful someone chooses a safe option for a dog). Sully/Dan the Man has been to board and train, knows sit, lie down, walks well on a leash, loves people, has lived with other dogs and would likely benefit from a dog friend his size to play with. He would do best with kids big enough to handle his size and not get knocked over, after all playing so so much fun for him! He does best with a heavy duty crate if he has to be left alone, and his former owner would be more than happy to be in contact with an adopter to help tell you more! More importantly than the commands he knows is his fabulous personality! He loves people, and toys ALOT. He loves snuggles, treats, walks, running around outside, and watching the world go by when walking with volunteers. It also doesn't hurt that he. Is. The. Cutest!!!! Sully/Dan the Man is not in the main public section of the shelter, so be sure to ask for him by name if you come to visit him!
