My story

Hi, I'm Woody! I am a 4 year old pup who has been living in Roxborough with my foster family since April 2024. I am a happy boy who loves to play fetch, take walks, sleep, snuggle with my family and eat! Although I live in the city, I think I would really enjoy living in a more rural area with a big yard to run and play! I am very treat motivated and have been working hard with my personal dog trainer, Dayna, to learn new skills and overcome some of my fears. I am eager to please and know how to sit, lie down, touch, come and focus. Now, I'm working on using a mat to settle. I am crate trained and can entertain myself for a few hours if you make me a frozen Kong or give me a tasty bully stick to enjoy. I am currently working on best ways to greet new people and require multiple slow introductions to new friends before I invite you into my inner circle and can call you my best bud. I warm up to the ladies pretty quickly but it takes me a little more time to have a bromance, if you know what I mean. But once you've gained my trust, I am a very affectionate and loyal boy. Since I'm still a little unsure, I would need to find a family without children. Although I live pretty comfortably with two other dogs and a cat, me and my bro had a tussle last year and I am still not sure I like cats very much, so I would prefer to be an only pet. I try my best to be a very good boy on walks but am strong and get pretty excited when I see other dogs, so I would want an experienced adopter who will continue to help me learn to stay calm. With daily medication, I have made a lot of progress but in the meantime, I am comfortable wearing a muzzle in stressful situations. I love to travel and take road trips! Last year, I went with my family to North Carolina and it was an awesome experience! Me and my foster family also like spending weekends in the Poconos where I can take long walks without running into so many dogs. I like to hike and swim, but am always down for a bath to clean up after a long day of outdoor activities.
