My story

Sweet Pea is a beautiful girl. She is a combo of tabby, a bit of Tortie and white- a Tabico. Sweet Pea was brought into rescue through our TNR, feral cat spay/neuter program. Sweet Pea was living among about 40 other cats that were all fixed through this program. She was so sweet and not in good health so we found a foster who could give her the attention she needed to grow and be healthy. She had some major hair loss the vet attributed to stress and lack of nutrition. Here's what her foster mom has to say: As you can see from some of the pictures Sweet Pea loves hanging out at the windows. That seems to be her favorite spot, unless I am home then she wants to curl up in my lap for naps. She runs and jumps and plays like a normal kitten. And loves toys!! She loves the small ones that she can toss in the air then catch or chase... and carries them around. She loves to hide under the bed and swat at your feet... be she will not scratch you! She’ll hide in other places and jump out at you then takes off running. Sweet Pea sleeps with me, sometimes she will start out laying on me... but most of the time she sleeps curled up behind my knees. She does not like to be picked up at all. She is not a huggy in your face kitty. When she curls in my lap, she sometimes rubs noses with me but that’s it. Sweet Pea is still skittish at times... if you are standing and bend down to pet her, she will shy away... I have to squat then she comes right up to me. I have taken her outside in my back yard. She does like being outside...but only if I am sitting on the back steps and she can see me. I stepped out of sight once and it did not take her long to notice I was no longer on the back steps, and she came flying back through the door. She will go out in the yard a bit, but then comes back on the steps with me. Sweet Pea now eats like a horse! She loves the Friskies shredded canned food... she still eats the dry kitten food for a snack. Her hair is slowly but surely coming back. So far... she does not like other cats!! My neighbor's cats come in my yard...she has been in the windows when they have come... she growls at them...they do not growl or hiss back at her, they like other cats. She may not do well with other cats. She is a sweet girl, and in her own way, loving. Sweet Pea needs a quiet place to land where she can blossom and grow. **Adoption fee of $140 includes spay/neuter, vet visits, deworming, and shots. ** Adoption Application: mercyrescue.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sweet Pea, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
