My story

  Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our  adoption application  so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours   (please check your spam folder for our emails)  .   Meet Canelo: Joyful Companion and Pro Cuddler Extraordinaire Canelo is a happy-go-lucky, two-year-old pup with a heart as big as his smile and eyes that will absolutely steal yours. He lives for life’s simple joys - morning walks filled with new smells, playtime with squeaky toys, and snuggles with his favorite people. Friendly, easygoing, and endlessly affectionate, Canelo gets along beautifully with both humans and other dogs, making him a great match for families of all ages. This sweet boy is smart and eager to please. He’s already mastered “sit,” “down,” and “off,” and would love to keep learning - especially if treats are involved. While he does have a medical condition called bronchiectasis (a non-contagious issue that sometimes causes a cough or runny nose), it doesn’t dull his sparkle one bit. Canelo may occasionally need medication at bedtime and antibiotics during flare-ups, but he handles it all with a wagging tail and his signature joyful spirit. Canelo would thrive in a loving, patient home where he can be included in the daily rhythm of life—gentle walks, belly rubs, training time, and plenty of cuddles on the couch. He’s curious, cuddly, and full of love to give. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is equal parts playful and snuggly, Canelo could be your perfect match. He’s ready to find his forever family and he’s ready to be someone’s everything, just like he’ll make you his!   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking   here  . Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
