My story

Ahoy there, future family! Name’s Romeo Joe… but my friends call me Captain. I’m a 10-pound, one-eyed Maltipoo treasure, turning the big 5 this October. You might think losing an eye would slow a guy down, but nope. I rock the pirate look, navigate life like a pro, and still manage to be devastatingly handsome. My life hasn’t exactly been a fairytale (unless you count the part where the hero—me—keeps escaping terrible humans and landing safely with CAMO Rescue). See, once upon a time in 2024, a kid accidentally hit me in the eye with a golf club. My family got me to the vet… but then abandoned me there. (Rude, right?) CAMO swooped in, paid for my surgery, and gave me my freedom ride. I healed up, moved into a foster home, made doggy friends, and learned the fine art of lap-warming. Then, just when I thought I had my “happily ever after,” (and through no fault of my own) my 2024 adopter sent me to a local county shelter. Lucky for me, CAMO has a “No Romeo Left Behind” policy, and here I am, safe and loved again... ready to find the real forever home I deserve. I’m a pro snuggler, a pro smiler (seriously, I look happy all the time), and I love other dogs. I’m also great with kids—just as long as they’re old enough (12+) to understand that my pirate patch isn’t for target practice. After all I’ve been through, I’m looking for someone who won’t quit on me. I promise to repay you in tail wags, cuddles, and enough love to fill the seven seas. So… ready to let this little Captain steer his ship straight into your heart? Adoption fee is: $450 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022
