Gracie

My story

Gracie is an unusual case. She is not a fan of humans but she loves other cats. She particularly loves Dotsen and Boots. They’re super sweet gorgeous boys so it’s easy to see why Gracie prefers them to humans. As mentioned, Gracie does not like humans. She can be in the same room with people. She won’t attack anyone as long as they don’t try to touch her. She’s making great strides. Although she loves to hiss at her caregiver every time her caregiver enters the room, it seems this is just a way Gracie says “Hello.” It may be akin to “Get off my lawn.” Gracie greets her caregiver at the door. She knows her caregiver will give her food. A true feral cat would not do this. Feral cats want nothing to do with people. Gracie is just grumpy. Very grumpy. Gracie greets her caregiver at the door with a hiss. Nothing more. Just a hiss. Gracie also approaches her caregiver when it’s treat time. She wants her share of the goods. Gracie is making progress. She interacts with her caregiver, which is something she didn’t do a year ago. Perhaps at some point, she’ll be okay with being petted. Gracie needs a home that understands that not all cats are cuddly and want attention. Gracie needs someone who is patient with her. She is making progress. Sometimes it’s a teeny tiny step - and sometimes there are no steps. She needs someone who understands that this is okay. Not everyone - or every cat - fits into a neat little box. Gracie is her own cat. Gracie needs someone who will just let her be, to accept her for who she is, and be okay if she never gets over her distrust of humans. Every cat deserves to be loved. Gracie is up for adoption because her two best friends Boots and Dotsen are ready for their happily ever after. Gracie wants to stay with them. They’d like to bring their friend Gracie into their happily ever after. Gracie is bonded to Dotsen anbd Boots and needs to be adopted with them. Gracie, Dotsen, and Boots are in foster care.
