My story

Meet Merry, affectionately known as Miss Merry, a spunky 6 month-old tripod terrier mix with a heart as big as her zest for life. Sporting distinctive white markings on her toes, a charming white sash under her chin to her belly, and a beautiful brindle coat, Merry is truly one of a kind. In her foster home, Merry has found companionship with her best friend Sadie, a 13-year-old lab, and her foster mom. She's super curious about the cats in the house, but the cats mostly stay out of her way. She's house-trained and waits patiently by the back door. If she needs to go outside and her foster mom is ignoring her signals, she will bark or tug her pants until she gets let out. Merry spends short amounts of time in the crate, but at a slumber party away from home she slept quietly all night in a crate. This lively pup is good with children, engaging happily with a 3-year-old grandson. Adding, she is still a classic puppy with all the energy a puppy brings. Merry, being a tripod, has adapted remarkably well after the amputation of her front leg in November. She gets the zoomies sometimes, runs around in big circles in the yard, runs up and down the deck stairs, and goes back for more. She also enjoys walks on a leash around the neighborhood park. You can often find her chewing on a number of toys she leaves across the house or barking at Sadie begging her to play. Mornings are her favorite when the whole pack gets out of their beds. If one of the pack or her foster mom is not moving fast enough, Merry barks and tries to nudge them out of bed or licks their face to get them moving. Despite some initial fear and overprotecting her foster mom, Merry is improving when meeting new people and other dogs. She is very vocal with her foster family and while playing with Sadie. If Merry was in charge of the pack, she would place herself in her foster mom's lap all the time and she'd be the only child. Merry follows her foster mom wherever she goes, but she is learning to wander around the back yard and lay down in other rooms by herself. She still struggles some with separation anxiety, but she does very well to stay at home with the pack when her foster family is gone for a while. Merry is improving with car rides and sometimes she even stands on the arm rest of the truck and puts her little head out the window. She has come very far from a trembling little puppy found with a severely broken leg. A patient adopter who can ensure her success with her challenges would be a perfect fit for her. She is ready to bring cozy snuggles and love to a forever home that understands her unique needs and appreciates the special, resilient spirit she embodies.
