My story

Meet Gus, a charming 2-year-old boxer mix, who loves his people. Gus is not always sure about meeting strangers but once he trusts you, you will have a best friend for life. He also has done wonderfully with both cats and other dogs so would be a great addition to your pack.. His crate training and house training make him a well-behaved furry friend, ensuring a smooth transition into any home. Gus is a total love bug, ready to shower affection and warmth on his new family members. With his lovable personality, Gus is destined to become an awesome furry family member. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Gus has done well playing with dogs he has met here so far, and has previously lived with dogs. KNOWN WITH CATS: Yes Gus has lived with cats before and done great. He loves snuggling them. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Gus isn't always sure about meeting new people, but has done great living with kids before and done well meeting kids at the Trails Home Farm. He is friendly and playful but he might knock someone over since he's a big boy KNOWN CUES: Gus knows 'sit', 'down', and 'paw' and is working on learning 'touch', 'spin', and 'crawl'. He is very smart and loves to learn KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Gus is reportedly house trained and crate trained and would be a great addition to any home. KNOWN LIKES: Affection, treats, walks and toys KNOWN DISLIKES: Strangers approaching too quickly. Gus needs time when meeting new people to feel comfortable with them. ___________________________________ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail trailshomefarm@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Trails Home Farm LOCATION: Trails Home Farm, Delaplane, VA HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Any dog at the Trails Home Farm or in foster require an appointment for any approved adopter to have a meet and greet. Adoption Fee: $475 We are proud to partner with the following veterinarians who offer a free first exam for your animal, exclusively for HT adopters: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital, and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals. Additionally, any VCA hospital will cover illnesses up to $250 at no cost to any Homeward Trails adopter. Just ask us how this works! We also provide free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting - just for HT adopters in the Arlington/Alexandria/Falls Church/DC area. Start your new dog out on the right foot with this valuable, expert guidance FREE! You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering by visiting http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gus, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
