My story

Meet Sophie, a sweet 6-year-old girl with the most soulful eyes and a gentle, loving spirit. Found as a stray, we don’t know anything about her past—but what we do know is that she’s ready to start a brand-new chapter with a family who will love her for the rest of her days. When Sophie first arrived at the shelter, she was feeling a little overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of it all—but after a little time and patience, her true personality has started to shine. And what a lovely personality it is! She is keeping her kennel clean and waiting to potty outside, an indication that she is likely housetrained or would be easy to train! During a recent Dog Day Out, Sophie quickly warmed up and showed just how special she is. She was described as “the sweetest dog” and “very well-behaved”—walking nicely on leash, responding to her name, and showing off her skills like sit, lay down, and shake. She enjoyed a bit of fetch with a tennis ball and was happiest snuggling up for some cozy time. Her DDO friends even said, “If we were in a place where we could take care of a dog full time, we’d adopt her ourselves.”Sophie is also looking for a little support on her journey to shed a few extra pounds—something she’s happy to work on with gentle walks, healthy treats, and encouragement from her forever family. She’d do best in a calm, adult-only home where she can feel safe, secure, and adored. Now that she’s opening up, Sophie is ready to trade her shelter kennel for a soft bed, a quiet home, and all the cuddles she can get. Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match. It`s recommended that she not go home with any small dogs, but feel free to bring your pup along when you come to meet her!Sophie is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations, and ready for her forever home!Her ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.
