My story

Meet Sophie, a sweet and soulful 6-year-old girl with the most loving eyes and an even gentler heart. Found as a stray, we may not know her past—but we know her future is looking bright! Sophie is ready to start a brand-new chapter filled with love, belly rubs, and a family to call her own.She’s currently living in a foster home, and within just a few days, she’s already proven herself to be the total package. Sophie is completely house and crate trained—she sleeps soundly in her crate all night long and has to be gently woken up in the morning (this girl takes her beauty sleep seriously!). She’s affectionate, playful, and incredibly well-mannered, with a special love for belly rubs and giving lots of kisses to show her appreciation.Sophie also has a playful side—she adores fetch and even brings the ball back to you like a pro. She enjoys car rides and knows several commands like sit, lay down, and shake. During a recent Dog Day Out, her volunteers described her as “the sweetest dog” and “very well-behaved.” They even said, “If we were in a place where we could take care of a dog full time, we’d adopt her ourselves.”While she’s working on shedding a few extra pounds, she’s happy to put in the work with gentle walks, healthy treats, and encouragement from her forever family. She`s also putting in the effort to learn she doesn’t need to be a back-up doorbell—she just wants you to know she’s got your back. And no need for a fly swatter when Sophie’s around—she’s got a talent for catching pesky flying creatures and keeping you safe from those buzzing intruders. She might give a squirrel a second thought, but usually decides they’re not worth the effort.Sophie would love a calm, steady home where she can feel safe and adored. She’d just need to meet any children in the home to ensure it’s a great fit for everyone. Now that she’s opening up and showing off her sweet, silly, and affectionate personality, all she needs is a soft bed, a loving home, and someone to share her next chapter with. She might just be the missing piece to your heart and home.Sophie would love to meet any potential canine siblings! Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match.
