My story

Meet Carter Rico: The Survivor with a Big Heart for Dogs Introducing Carter Rico, a resilient and feral-minded dog who was rescued from Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria left devastation in its wake. Six years old and weighing 53 pounds, Carter has been with us since 2018, surviving the harsh conditions of the beaches with his sibling and mom, Jade. Now, just over five years later, Carter is still waiting for his special home. Carter is a unique and wonderful dog. He makes friends with every dog he meets and serves as the greeter at our boarding facility. Every dog loves to hang out with him, and he's an integral part of our dog testing team. Despite his incredible friendliness with other dogs, Carter is terrified of humans, which makes finding a foster or adopter challenging. Carter continues to live happily in boarding, where he has lots of friends and is a staff favorite. He's learned the routines and cohabitates peacefully with humans, but he prefers to keep his distance. While Carter is available for foster or adoption, it's essential to understand and respect his limitations. He thrives in an environment where he can be around other dogs and follow a consistent routine. Carter's journey from the beaches of Puerto Rico to our rescue is a testament to his resilience and spirit. If you have experience with feral or very shy dogs and can provide a calm, understanding environment, Carter could be the perfect addition to your home. He's happy to take what you have to offer, as long as you respect his need for space. Carter is looking for a special person who understands his past and can give him the patience and love he needs to continue thriving. If you think you can provide Carter with the safe and caring home he deserves, consider fostering or adopting him today. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. You can view all the adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at http://dallasdogrrr.org. For more information, you can email adopt@dallasdogrrr.org. Upon receiving your application please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process. Thank you for your interest in adopting a Dallas DogRRR.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Carter Rico III, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
