My story

Harley is a 5-year-old hound mix with a loyal heart. She’s been at Big Dog Ranch Rescue for over 600 days—waiting patiently for the right person to see her not as a project, but as the loving, devoted companion she is. Harley has been through so much in her life. She was rescued from a horrible hoarding case, and while she finally found safety at the Ranch, she also experienced deep loss—her best friend and longtime bunkmate, Bully, passed away here from liver cancer. Since then, Harley has been left sad, grieving, and in need of comfort. She’s house-trained, fully obedient, and loves nothing more than curling up next to you. She’s affectionate, cuddly, and thrives on one-on-one connection. She gets along well with other dogs, but because of her past, she prefers to eat alone where she feels safe and comfortable. She’s looking for an adult-only home with someone patient and experienced—someone who can give her the structure she needs, the love she’s never had, and the time to build trust. What she’s been through doesn’t define her—but it does mean she needs someone willing to show her that the world can be a kind and loving place.
