My story

I’ve had the opportunity to receive training beyond the APA! walls and am currently living in the Houston area. I like to think of it as “studying abroad!” I’ve received some one-on-one attention from my trainer friend at Gray Wolf Canine Rehabilitation who has helped me further work through some challenges. Now with some extra coursework, I’m ready to graduate out of the sheltering system and into an adoptive home! And as soon as I find a home, my spot at Gray Wolf gives another dog just like me a chance to broaden their horizons! What I've worked on at GWCR: I used to be very solitary and shut down, struggling to find pleasure in typical “dog” activities like walks and playtime. It was hard for people to figure out how to help me progress. These days, I’m rediscovering who I am and taking interest in new hobbies like fetch. I can play that game for hours and do cute bunny hops when I experience joy. I’m also improving greatly with my leash skills and becoming more confident and secure in groups of other dogs. My perspective on trust with humans has also been transformed—rather than shying away from affection, I solicit it now.
