Luke (Bonded to Leia)

My story

Luke is part of our wonderful tiger striped bonded canine duo with his sister Leia, and they have an unimaginable connection. Since they were born in March 2022, they have been inseparable. Luke & Leia were adopted together in Sept 2023 and were brought back to our shelter a year later when their owner was moving and had to make the hard decision to surrender them to our dedicated staff. But one thing was for certain...they needed to stay together. While Luke is more outgoing and active, Leia is more shy and relies on her brother to help guide her way through the unknown. As long as these siblings are together they can thrive in any environment. If separated for even the smallest amount of time during a walk, both will stop walking and immediately go on the search to find the other. Luke and Leia are looking for a family who will love them both equally, and will ensure they can remain together forever. They would like a home with a yard to play and a couch to cuddle on, as well as a household with older children. Both are dog friendly, heartworm negative, spayed/neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations. They are incredibly treat motivated and pick up new commands within minutes. Our HSSM staff knows that bonded pairs are the hardest to get adopted, especially if they are larger dogs. So what are the benefits of adopting a bonded pair? 1.
