My story

Name: Willa Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog mix Age: 4.5 years old Background: Willa was surrendered from an unfortunate situation. She was adopted and returned 2 weeks later. She was then adopted by another family and returned 2 days later. She is now past her first year in the shelter. This has worn her down and she has started to become depressed in the shelter. Willa is loyal and protective. She appreciates her space and bonds strongly with her person, developing a need to protect her person and the area. Because of this, we believe she would do well in a home with a single individual or experienced dog owners that can crate train her and work with her protectiveness. Personality: Willa is a stunning and affectionate girl with a heart of gold. She's smart and eager to please, already learning commands like "heel," "lay down," and leash training during her short adoption. Willa has good manners, taking treats gently and refraining from jumping on people. She's described as a cuddle bug and enjoys reciprocating affection with gentle "petting" using her paw. Her tail wags enthusiastically, and she'll even do a playful bow to show her excitement. She is a perfect balance of low and medium energy - she is content to lounge and play with toys by herself, but she also enjoys the occasional hike or adventure. Ideal Home: Willa is seeking a confident, gentle, and experienced owner who understands her needs. Although she's incredibly sweet and smart, she gets protective of the person she bonds with and their space. She sometimes views outsiders as threatening. She needs proper decompression time in a new home, as she's been in the shelter so long. She would be the perfect dog for a single owner, as she is loyal and would make sure her person is safe. She would do well with a male dog or as an only dog and meet and greets are recommended. Final Thoughts: Willa is a wonderful companion waiting for the perfect match. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and intelligent canine companion, come meet Willa at the shelter during opening hours. She's sure to steal your heart with her charm and loving nature.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Willa, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
