My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Juniper!  Born around February 2022, she is a playful, happy girl.  She is on the small side around 50 pounds.   She is as cute as can be with her alert little ears, spattering of freckles across her muzzle, and lovely silky, soft coat. Her DNA test revealed that she is 51% Great Pyrenees, 24% Australian Cattle Dog, and 25% of 8 other breeds. (9% Chow Chow, and 1-3% of each of Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shorthaired Pointer, Anatolian Shepherd Dog, Akbash Dog, American Pit Bull Terrier, Parson Russell Terrier) She is more active than the average Pyrenees, and needs plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to meet her energy level. Juniper has been with us for some time because she can be very wary of new people and dogs.  Her foster family has been working hard on these issues, but she will likely always display these cautions. Juniper desperately needs a forever home where her family continues the loving care she has received in her foster home where she has become a wonderful, loving, and playful dog.  She could be an amazing companion to someone willing to take the time to gain her trust, understand her and patiently work to understand her fearful behavior, and give her the home she deserves. Juniper loves to play and run, especially with doggy friends.  She can be pushy with her dog friends, so she needs a buddy that can stand up to her or doesn't mind her intense play. She would love to have at least one playful doggy companion in her forever home.  Or she might be fine as an only dog if she is around her humans almost constantly and they exercise her a lot. She takes a little time warming up to new adult dogs.  She needs careful introductions to get comfortable, then she does great.  She has some reactivity to dogs she does not know on walks, so this is something to keep in mind. Juniper absolutely adores puppies!  She has a blast playing with them and is cautious not to hurt them.  She mostly performs a lot of play bows, “boops” them with her nose, and jovially scampers away with their toys. She's even nice to pet bunnies!  She hasn't been cat tested but she seems very aware of the size of other animals and is typically gentle with smaller animals. She is pretty high energy in general so they might be annoyed with her. Juniper needs to be in a home without children or only children 16+. She loves going for trips in the car and loads up easily.  She has so much fun looking out the window and settles down for petting along the way. She is fully house trained, and she is great on leash. She is crate trained, but has no need for one. She is food motivated and a people pleaser. She loves all food and takes her treats gently.  She takes commands very well and knows the basics and is quick to figure out what you want her to do.  SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention.
